MIL-B-80272
shall have sufficient capacity to permit full flow of coolant.
The system
shall have means for draining and cleaning and shall include a baffle or a
strainer which is easily removable for cleaning. Means shall be provided to
permit the operator to direct and control the amount of coolant.
3.6 Pneumatic system.
If compressed air is required for machine opera-
tion, the pneumatically controlled or operated components and the air dis-
tribution system shall comply with the requirements of JIC-P-1.
3.7 Electrical system. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), the elec-
trical system shall conform to ANSI/NFPA-79. Each machine shall draw all of
its electrical power from a single 230/460 volt, 3 phase, 60 Hz circuit.
Each machine shall have a fused safety disconnect switch or circuit breaker.
The machine shall be initially wired for operation on 460 volts. An identi-
fied terminal for grounding the machine when it is installed shall be
mounted in or near the disconnect switch.
The terminal shall be suitable
for connecting the size grounding conductor specified in ANSI/NFPA-79 for
the disconnect fuse rating.
3.7.1 Motors.
Motors shall be rated for a short duty cycle of not less
than 60 minutes and shall have ball or roller bearings of the sealed and
permanently lubricated type. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), each
motor enclosure shall meet the requirements for a dripproof enclosure.
3.7.2 Solid state components.
Solid state design shall be used through-
out for electronic components.
The use of selenium or other similar aging
devices is permitted only for voltage surge protection to other solid state
components.
Control circuit voltage.
3.7.3
Auxiliary control circuits shall be
isolated from the input electric power supply by a low-voltage transformer
having a secondary voltage no greater than 115 volts.
3.8 Size and capacity. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2.1), the sizes
and characteristics of the machine shall be not less than those specified in
table II for the machine size specified.
3.9 Performance.
The jig boring machine shall be capable of performing
in accordance with the tests in 4.5.
3.9.1 Additional performance requirements. Performance features required
in addition to, or in lieu of, the requirements herein shall be as specified
and fully described (see 6.2.1 ).
3.10 Alignment tolerances.
Each machine shall meet the alignment accu-
racies of table III.
3.11
Standard equipment.
Unless otherwise specified one set of hand
tools, normally furnished by the manufacturer, shall be furnished.
